Golden Monkey drug leaves two girls seriously ill

Two girls have been left in a serious condition after taking a dangerous substance known formerly as a legal high and named Golden Monkey.

Police were called to the incident early in the morning of 24 July. They found two women, aged 19 and 20, seriously ill from taking the harmful drug. The women were both taken to the Dorset County Hospital.
To warn others of the dangers of using Golden Monkey, the police have released an image of its packaging. The image shows a plain white background bearing an aerial view of a stylised record turntable surrounded by a thick rectangular outline.

Dorset Police Chief Inspector, Jim Beashal, said that the drug taking incident was being investigated by the police and that they wanted to warn the general public of the dangers inherent in taking the synthetic substances. He emphasised that anyone who took the drug could be endangering not only their health but also their life.

He said, “I would strongly advise those thinking of taking such substances to think again. You can’t be sure what you’re taking and the side-effects are unpredictable and potentially life-threatening. If anyone has any information with regard to the sale of illegal drugs please do not hesitate to report it.”

The Dorset Police have asked that if anyone has information related to the incident, they get in touch either through the official website, by a police email, or by telephone.
