Legal highs suspected to have caused two deaths at party

Legal high drugs are suspected to have caused the death of two men and the hospitalisation of another after a party in Wales.

Stephen John and Dean Boswell were both found dead the day after attending a party in Pembroke Dock, West Wales; the two men were cousins. A third man was taken to hospital and received treatment. It is believed that all three men took the same legal high drug; however, toxicology results have yet to come through.

A female friend of the three men, who was also present at the party, said: “There were a group having a good time together on Friday night and it appears Dean and Stephen took some kind of legal high, which has ended up killing them. It is so tragic, as both of them were so full of life and had everything to live for.”

Mr Boswell’s body was discovered by his mother on the morning of her 59th birthday and she intends to use his funeral as a platform to warn other people about the dangers of taking drugs. She claims that her son was not a heavy drug user, perhaps having “the odd smoke”.

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police said that the exact cause of the men’s deaths is being investigated and that they are waiting for test results to confirm the presence of drugs. He added that the police are committed to tackling the increasing problem of substance abuse head-on.
