Virginia school nurse arrested for stealing Adderall

Candie Leann Blankenship, a 37-year-old-woman working as a nurse at an elementary and high school in Virginia, was arrested for allegedly stealing Adderall intended for students with a prescription.

Adderall, a popular student drug, is used for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.

In addition to this, some students use it to elevate their level of productivity and boost their focus.

At the time of the incident, Blankenship was working as a nurse for Hurley High School and Hurley Elementary.

Her arrest took place on Tuesday and she was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

She was also charged with two counts of petit larceny.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office executed the arrest.

Warrants for the arrest were issued after the deputies had finished investigating two related incidents.

One of these occurred during 13th and 15th January 2020, with the second incident taking place between 31st January and 4th February 2020.

As part of her work-related duties, the school nurse dispensed Schedule II narcotics, including Adderall, to students with a valid prescription.

Some of the drugs went missing for unknown reasons, or they were unaccounted for, which raised questions and suspicions, leading to the Sheriff’s Office investigating the case.

The authorities reported that, following the accusations, Blankenship admitted to stealing the drugs.

After her arrest, she was released on posting $5,000 worth of bail.
