Palmer Prevention to offer free drug testing for school-aged kids

For the entire month of March, Palmer Prevention Inc., a private non-profit company, will be offering free drug testing for school-aged kids.

The company aims to prevent, delay and reduce the use of alcohol and other drugs among the young population.

Tom Norton, the company’s director, wants to reduce parents’ worries by helping them find out whether their kids are using drugs or not.

You can set up an appointment by calling 910-522-0421.

Walk-ins from 10am to 4pm are also available (Monday through Friday).

The address is 3450 Capuano Drive in Lumberton.

Another benefit of bringing the kids over for drug testing (compared to, say, buying a drug test from Walmart) is that Palmer Prevention houses a team of clinical professionals who can take things further if the test comes back positive.

As part of a six-panel drug test that would typically cost $30, the licensed professionals will test for the presence of the following:

  • Cocaine
  • Opiates
  • Amphetamines
  • Marijuana
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Methamphetamines

Additionally, Palmer Prevention provides various other prevention programmes and activities.

They are designed to empower the individuals and equip them with the tools they need to better face the challenges that life throws their way.

One of these goes by the name of ‘Keeping My Child Drug Free’ and spans over six weeks.
